Pricing questions

How is usage counted?
By characters of text across all dialogue turns, including inline tags like [laughs]. We bill per 100 characters and round up to a whole credit per generation: a 200-character line costs 1 credit, 1,000 characters costs 3 on Flash (2 on Flash-Lite), and a full 5,000-character script costs 11 (8 on Flash-Lite).
How are the hours calculated?
At a typical narration pace of about 15 characters per second, 1,000 characters is roughly 67 seconds of audio. Slow, dramatic reads produce more audio per character; rapid-fire reads produce less.
Should I subscribe or buy a pack?
Subscriptions are the cheaper option per hour of speech, and yearly is the cheapest. Packs cost more per hour but never expire, which suits occasional use.
What happens to unused credits?
Pack credits never expire. Subscription credits roll over from month to month while your subscription is active.
Do failed generations cost credits?
No. If a generation fails, its credits are refunded to your balance automatically.
Do I need a Google account or API key?
No. Type your text in the browser, pick voices and download the audio. There is no project, key or code to set up.
Can I use the audio in my videos or products?
